Anna Margarita Albelo is an out, Cuban-American independent director and filmmaker who’s spent the past 15 years creating stories for both the US and Europe.  Her 2014 feature directorial debut, WHO'S AFRAID OF VAGINA WOLF was released theatrically in France and has garnered several international awards. She is a regular collaborator for French network, Canal Plus, writing and directing several original documentaries on LGBT culture and a short, THE TURKEY, which screened at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival.   

Anna currently works as a writer for show creator, Dmitry Lipkin (HBO's HUNG, FX's The Riches), developing his new TV series for FOX TVS.  She also produced Madeleine Olnek’s new biopic starring Molly Shannon, THE SECRET LIFE OF EMILY DICKINSON- as well as, Amy Adler’s short fiction TEAR JERKER and Lianna Carrera’s BOYISH - currently in development at CAA.

She additionally served as a juror at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival for the Queer Palm Award andhas been selected for some of the US's most prestigious film programs: the Tribeca Film Festival’s ALL ACCESS and ON TRACK programs, IFP's Project Involve, and the Miami International Film Festival’s, “Encuentros” program.  

Her body of work, screened in over 100 international festivals, blends narrative, documentary, and comedic elements into a unique story-telling style that has become her trademark. LA Weekly calls her work, “Riveting” and IndieWire spotlighted her as a “Filmmaker to watch!”
