We were musing over drinks sometime in 2014 about identity politics, marginalization, appropriation, tokenization and all the other -ations filmmakers are constantly bumping up against. In a debate about how/if we bring queer politics and values to our process as producers, we landed on how much we'd love a community where we could dig into both the juicy abstract and concretely practical questions of producing.

And the seeds of the Queer Producers Collective were planted! Within a year we launched the Collective, aiming to create community and foster the visibility and growth of other queer producers. We currently have 19 members crushing it at a cross section of documentary, narrative and new media and will continue to grow the group, adding folks with a diverse set of experiences and identities.
